TOURNAMENT COMPETITION RULES
RULES
1. GOVERNING RULES
All tournament games will be conducted under National Federation of High School (NFHS) Basketball Rules unless otherwise noted.
2. UNIFORMS
All teams are required to wear Deuce Brand–provided uniforms.
3. HOME TEAM DESIGNATION
We collect several types of information from and about users of our Website, including:
• In bracket play, the top team listed will be designated as the home team.
• In pool and round-robin play, the team listed first will be designated as the home team.
• In the event of uniform conflicts, the home team must wear the lighter-colored jersey.
• The home team will use the bench to the right of the scorer’s table (when facing the court).
• Each team’s pre-game warm-up basket will be the basket furthest from its bench.
4. GAME BALL
The home team shall provide the official game ball unless otherwise agreed upon by both head coaches.
5. BALL SPECIFICATIONS
• The intermediate size ball (28.5”) will be used for the 6th Grade Boys Division.
All other divisions will use the regulation size ball (29.5”).
6. GAME CLOCK REGULATIONS
6.1 Regulation Play
Games will consist of two (2) 16-minute halves using a regulation clock unless otherwise noted.
Shot Clock: A 30-second shot clock will be used for all 16U and 17U division games.
6.2 Overtime
All overtime periods will be one (1) minute.
If still tied at the conclusion of overtime, the game will proceed to sudden death.
6.3 Running Clock Rule (“25/20 Rule”)
A running clock will be implemented when a team leads by 25 points or more during the second half.
If the lead is reduced below 20 points, the regulation clock will resume.
During running clock situations, the clock will stop only for timeouts, injuries, or at the officials’ discretion.
The Running Clock Rule does not apply to NCAA-certified divisions.
6.4 Halftime
Halftime will be three (3) minutes.
6.5 Pre-Game Warm-Up
Pre-game warm-up will be a minimum of three (3) minutes.
7. FREE THROWS
• Teams will not shoot one-and-one free throws on the 7th, 8th, or 9th team fouls.
• Teams will shoot the double bonus beginning with the 10th team foul.
• All shooting fouls will be administered according to NFHS rules.
8. FOUL DISQUALIFICATION
• NCAA-certified divisions: Six (6) foul disqualification.
• All other divisions: Five (5) foul disqualification in accordance with NFHS rules.
9. TIMEOUTS
Each team is allowed:
• Two (2) 30-second timeouts
• One (1) 60-second timeout
One (1) additional timeout will be granted per overtime period.
Players may sit on the bench during timeouts.
10. TIEBREAKERS (POOL & ROUND-ROBIN PLAY)
10.1 Two-Team Tie
The winner of the head-to-head matchup will receive the higher placement.
10.2 Three or More Teams Tied
Step 1: Head-to-head record among tied teams.
Step 2: If still tied, apply the Point Differential Rule:
• Maximum point differential per game: +15 or –15.
• Forfeit:
- Forfeiting team receives –15.
- Opponent receives +15.
• Double forfeit:
Each team receives a loss and 0-point differential.
• Placement will be determined by highest point differential.
11. JEWELRY POLICY
Jewelry is prohibited with the following exceptions:
• Religious medals must be taped and worn under the uniform.
• Medical-alert medals must be taped and may remain visible.
• Pierced earrings are permitted only if:
- The jewelry is a post only; and
- Completely covered with tape, bandage, or similar material to the satisfaction of game officials.
12. COACH / PLAYER EJECTION
• Any coach or player involved in fighting will be suspended for the remainder of the tournament.
• Any coach or player ejected for other reasons will be suspended for the next scheduled game.
• Multiple ejections may result in additional suspension or corrective action by Uncle Drew Circuit.
13. BEHAVIOR STANDARDS
Uncle Drew Circuit enforces a Zero Tolerance Policy.
• Coaches are responsible for the conduct of their players, assistant coaches, and fans both on and off the court.
• The Site Director or any game official may remove any individual for violations of this policy.
• Uncle Drew Circuit reserves the right to take additional corrective action to ensure sportsmanship, participant safety, and event integrity.
• All teams, coaches, players, and attendees are subject to these rulings.
14. APPLICATION OF RULES
Uncle Drew Circuit reserves the right to modify these Tournament Rules at any time in the best interest of the tournament. All teams, coaches, players, and attendees will be bound by any such modifications.
